The Globe

There are three events run by Friends International each week for international students and scholars studying in Birmingham.

The Globe in Selly Oak is a great place for you to meet people from Britain and all over the world in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. It’s a perfect place to practise your English with local people in a friendly environment and each week there is a different theme for the evening as well as enjoying free drinks and snacks. Learn about British and other cultures, experience food from around the world, play games, discuss topics of interest, find out what to do in Birmingham and beyond, and much more.

Globe Café

The Globe is organised and led by a team of volunteers from local churches and meets on Monday evenings 8:00-10:00pm at St Wulstan’s Church, Alton Road (opposite the Tesco mini supermarket and petrol station on the Bristol Road).

Open Home in Edgbaston if you live on the Vale or Edgbaston area then Glenys Harriott would love to welcome you to her home on alternate Mondays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. She and her team of volunteers invite you to take part in an informal evening with an interesting theme. It’s a great way to settle into Birmingham, getting to know some friendly local people in a relaxed setting and a chance to practice your English!

International Café in Harborne are you an international student living in the Harborne area? Would you like to meet British people and other international students in a relaxed setting, to make friends, find out more about British culture, and practise your English? If so, friends international are hoping to launch a new Café style event just for you!

For more information about any of these events and information on others please visit www.isbham.org or www.isbham.org/contact-us/ where you can sign up to receive emails about the different events by completing the form.
