What is Truth?

(UBCU members click HERE for info on how you can serve ‘What is Truth?’)

Hi guys! Welcome to the ‘What is Truth?’ homepage.
Each year UBCU puts on a week of events designed to answer your questions about God and to provide you with some answers! This is taking place 30th January – 3rd February 2012. This year we’re looking at truth; how life is a fight to discover truth and what we wholeheartedly believe is the truth about life!

We don’t see this as an opportunity to shove our opinions down your throats. We genuinely love God for who He is and what He’s done for us and we want to share that with you. Each and every one of us has a story about how God has made an impact on our lives…why would we not want you to know that?

So if this strikes a chord with you at all, even just a teensy bit, why not pop along? You’ve nothing to lose…in fact you can only gain a cream tea at the lunchtime events!

If you don’t know where any of these places are then click on their links below:

  • Chancellors Court(outside building R1 on the campus map, next to the Old Joe, the clock tower)
  • Rio’s, The Vale(in Shackleton on the vale map)
  • TC’s Pub, Selly Oak(google maps)

If your still unsure of where any of these places are, or want someone to come and meet you so you don’t have to go by yourself, contact Esther Donnelly and she’ll put you in touch with someone.

As we go through the week, if you miss any of the talks, or want to listen back to one again, we’ll be uploading them below so you can do just that! When the title goes pink, the talk will be there!

Day Lunchbar Evening Event
Monday An unscientific God?
Tuesday An arrogant God? A compassionate God
Wednesday An unjust God? An intervening God
Thursday An unnecessary God? A life-changing God(1)
Friday A restricting God? A life-changing God(2)

If there are any questions that remain unanswered from this week, whether it’s about something we’ve had a talk about or just one of those big life questions, Esther Donnelly would love to hear from you and will do her very best to answer them (if she can’t she will find someone who can!)

If you’d rather meet up with someone in person to chat anything through, then contact Dave Sherwood and he’ll put you in touch with someone to do just that.

If any of these events have left you wanting more, why not check out our alpha course? Alpha courses are brilliant for looking deeper into who God is and what that means for you etc. With a friendly group of students from UBCU to walk you through it (and pizza of course), why not?
It will be beginning on the Thursday, 16th February, 7:30 in the Oasis Lounge (downstairs in the Chaplaincy, building O2 on the campus map) and will be running each Thursday until Week 10.

If you want to come along to this, please contact Dave Sherwood, so that we can make sure we have food for you!

Also, have you seen these videos?….

What’s your story?
A Compassionate God
An Intervening God
A Life-Changing God
